[opencms-dev] Webform error and missing ADE mode

Hi Yves, Chris and list,

For forms in OpenCms these days, I’m pretty sure these are your possible solutions:

1.) Use the new forms module – which requires using container pages.
2.) Use the old OAPM forms module – it should work just as well as on your old site (but the module is no longer updated by Alkacon).
3.) Use a completely different forms module – your own or someone else’s.
4.) Use a manually coded, old-school form – no module required.

Hope this helps. I struggled a lot trying to get the new forms up and running without a container page. But no such luck...

Cheers,
Paul

Any other hint on this subject ?

Hi Chris,

I seem to have the same problem than you had, but failed to find a solution so far. I have a site made with OpenCms 7.5 which I exported as zip-File and imported into OpenCms 8.5.2. The site uses xmlcontent and "page with free text"-based pages and they all work flawless.

The only thing which makes a problem is the forms. They work, but the template is not applied and they show the following error-message: "This element can not be displayed correctly because there is no detail page configured for this type. Please create a type detail page for this type in the sitemap editor."
Any other hit how I can solve this in my non-containerpage-based site with OpenCms 8.5 ?

Just an update on this problem for the mailing list archive; as I managed to solve mu problem.

My web form (version 8.x.x) was not loading correctly because it seems the new web forms expect to work from within a container page. Since this is not currently how my site works I created a new page jsp for my form (based on the old version 7.x.x way of doing things) and it now works correctly.

Hello there,

I recently upgraded my OpenCMS installation from version 7 something to 8.5.1 For the most part it seemed to go very well.

However, I have had one problem I have not immediately been able to solve. I have a web form that I brought along from my version 7 installation. It almost works after some updating to a v8 schema but I get an error within an element of the page. I'm not clear which element it is talking about. The error is:

"This element can not be displayed correctly because there is no detail page configured for this type. Please create a type detail page for this type in the site map editor."

Ok fine, but looking for the site map editor I have realised that I don't seem to have ADE mode available at all. I'm not clear why. I didn't miss it initially because version 7 never had it (and I'm used to v7). If I had to guess it is because my pages are not setup with the correct container page and tags ? I was hoping somebody might have some insights into what my problem is.

1. Where is my ADE mode?
2. Why does my web form not work (which I think related to 1 somehow)?

TIA!
