Hi Gero,

I´m not sure if it will help, but you should for sure
install the xerces version 1.0.0.

I had different problems with the installation then you,
using the older xerces fixed them though.

What about the other logs (error.log, jserv.log and the 
mod_serv.log) ? Are they empty ? Are they present at all ?
Maybe you should check the permissions of those. For testing
purposes I did a 'chmod ugo+wr' on all of them.

If they are not present at all do a 'touch' in the apropriate
directories and set the permissions as mentioned above.
