[opencms-dev] Problems installing Opencms 4.2

Many thanks to everybody for their input, OpenCms is now running using
xerces 1.2.3. Looking at the change notes this fixes memory leak problems in
earlier releases. So it may well be worth upgrading to this verions if you
are planning to put a significant amount of traffic through your system.

On another subject is there any documentation in English. My German is
non-existant and so figuring out what to do next is something of a
challenge.

regards

Lewis

Hi,
i've had the same problem. Don't use xerces.jar Version 1.3.0! Fix: use
Version 1.2.0
Don't ask me why ;-)

sum Vers. 1.3.0 -> 38818 1568
sum Vers. 1.2.0 -> 59289 1464

Thx for your XML-Parser hint Stefan!
:-) Michael

Thanks for the feedback.

Currently the classpath loads the following jar files.

opencms.jar from opencms_4.2.zip - sum output 43206 1387
mm.mysql-2.0.4-bin.jar - sum output is 18072 108
xerces.jar - sum output is 38818 1568
fop-bin-0_17_0.jar - sum output is 52816 1202

Is there any way to find out which XML parser is being invoked???

Lewis

High Lewis,

sounds like a XML-Parser-Problem. Which version of the xml-parser xerces do
you use. Are you sure that only the xerces will be loaded in the Classpath?
Greetings Stefan Kienecker

Hi

When installing Opencms 4.2 on Redhat 6.2/Intel, Java 1.3, JSDK 2.0
everything worked until the first attempt to access the system via a browser
as described in step 8.

Using the URL
http://<servername>/servlets/opencms/system/workplace/action/login.html
resulted in strange dialog with very little text and two buttons, one of
which is opens a scrolling text field containing further information. Theis
contains a message to the effect the DATABLOCK details cannot be found.
Looking in the opencms.log file reveals the following;

Any help would be most appreciated.
