[opencms-dev] Simple install issue

Hi Geoffery,

it seems your setup has problems with the JSP remapping of *.jsp to
*.ocjsp.

An easy way to work around this is probably to download and use the
OpenCms/Flex alpha 1 release,
in which this mapping is not longer required and therefore has been
removed.

In case you are worried about the alpha status:
As long as you don't use the JSP it's all the same code as the current
major 4.6.1 release.
Only the JSP additions are in alpha stage.

Check out this URL before setting up OpenCms/Flex:

Best Regards,
Alex.

Hi Simon,
I know what your talking about. Trying to install Tomcat directly on a
Cobalt was very difficult. Thankfully Sun released an update to the J2RE
that bundled in Tomcat & configured it with Apache and the mod_jk in
httpd.conf.

It also dynamically created context directories in Tomcat and each
domain...so each domain has its own WEB-INF directory (mirrored within
Tomcat). I can plunk a test JSP script anywhere on my domains and the
file will load (normal 80 port). My test jsp file in the OpenCMS
directory:

http://www.verada.net/opencms/ocsetup/test.jsp

I did try loading the directory in port 8080 but nothing came up. Not
sure how to proceed....

thanks again,
Geoffrey

Geoffrey,

When you say that Tomcat is running in conjunction with Apache, what do
you mean exactly? This is not the default configuration and getting the
correct webapp module to run on Apache to connect to Tomcat is a real
pain on the Cobalt RaQ systems. Are you sure that you are not running
OpenCMS on port 8080 of tomcat?

Sorry for the repeat. Was just hoping anyone had any ideas. If the first
message wasn't clear, I know that Tomcat is running. For some reason it
just isn't recognizing the OpenCMS package after the WAR file gets
deployed.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Apologies in advance for this 'newbie' post.

I have OpenCMS running fine on my local playground machine
(W2K/Tomcat/MySQL), however I am running into a small issue getting
OpenCMS running on my hosted server running RedHat (Cobalt RaQ3).

I've deployed the .WAR file and restarted the webservice with no
problem. The directories get created in both Tomcat and in my 'web'
folder (similar to htdocs). All ok. However, when I go to the directory
(/opencms/ocsetup), my browser just lists the directories. Tomcat is
running in conjunction with Apache so I don't need a specific port.

Anyway, apologies again for the post. I'd appreciate any help in
advance.

thanks,
