[opencms-dev] 5.0 release plan

Hi Mark and Alex,
The English translation of the Help is very good news.
We are new to OpenCms and I have a group here who are currently
inputting a considerable amount of content and who would love the
benefit of on-line help.
Would it be possible to post the English help files as soon as they are
available without having to wait for the next beta release?
(The 5.0 Beta 1 is really very solid and I like the functionality.)
Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Mark,
great to hear you are still working on the online documentation.
I will certainly include your results in the next release and have
updated the
todo file naming you as a volunteer :)
We at Alkacon are also in preparation of the JSP part documentation of
the 5.0 release.
This will be made available with the 5.0 RC or the 5.0 final, as time
permits.
The best release date for the 5.0 final I currently have is "until the
end of the year".
Before that, we will have a 5.0 beta 2 "really soon now" and after that
a 5.0 RC 1 "when it's ready".
I apologize for not being able to give more precise delivery dates.
The open issues (besides the missing online English help translation)
are:
* For the 5.0 beta 2 we need a fix for importing content with pre 5.0
releases because of changes in the encoding handling.
* For the 5.0 RC 1 we support for static export of JSP pages, which will
make the 5.0 release feature complete.
* For the 5.0 final we need some time to gather feedback to remove
errors that will certainly be inside the code.

Best Regards,
Alex.
