Trawling through the mail list (via search) I lucked upon mention of a
potential bug (actually a real one I would say) where the page control
defaults to the default template file rather than the chosen one. I edited
the page control to set it to my chosen template and its now working. Though
I would like an answer to my first question below.

Subject: [opencms-dev] Template problem
Hi,
I am kinda getting used to getting no help from this list, but I would
really appreciate some advice on this one:
opencms V5beta2
I built a basic site using the JSP templates - this worked fine except when
I went to do a static export and discovered that if you use JSP, it seems
static export doesn't work - is this a fair statement?
Next I proceeded to build the same site using no JSP (or so I thought), did
a static export and found the same error about JSP not allowed in static
export. So, figuring there may be some leftover from my original JSP site, I
deleted all templates and pages that had anything to do with JSP and now get
this error for my main (and only) page:
[jsptemplate] ??? [CmsException]: 0 Unknown exception. Detailed Error:
JspTemplate: Error while reading JSP
/system/modules/default/frametemplates/default [CmsException]: 2 Not found.
Detailed Error: [com.opencms.file.mySql.CmsDbAccess]
/default/vfs/system/modules/default/frametemplates/default. . Caught
Exception: >[CmsException]: 2 Not found. Detailed Error:
[com.opencms.file.mySql.CmsDbAccess]
/default/vfs/system/modules/default/frametemplates/default. <
It seems that deleting some of the default JSP templates has caused some
linkage to be broken? How do I fix this?
