[opencms-dev] Where should images go and what should their links be?

I've an HTML file I need to edit in sourcecode inside a module called cod.

Are graphics supposed to go into system/galleries/pics?  I've created a 
subdirectory called "cod" into which I've put some images.  When editing 
the HTML I use <img 
src="/opencms/opencms/system/galleries/pics/cod/something.gif" 
alt="..."/> but that seems like a long URL.

Is their a preferred abbreviated URL to use for images from the gallery?
Should I put my images someplace else, like inside the module, and refer 
to them relatively their?
It seems that when editing a page as HTML the "insert a picture from the 
gallery" doesn't work unless that's where the pictures are.
If I move an object referenced by another, are the links updated 
automatically?  Can they be?
