Fair enough ... but then it is probably a JTidy issue rather than an
editor issue I guess ... oh well ... guess one has to live with these
quirks.

No: it is erroneous behaviour. The WYSIWYG process isn't simply ignoring
the anchor, it is _removing_ it from the file.
I only commented on the w3c's page to show that empty anchors are valid
HTML (and therefore should not be removed)
