[opencms-dev] opencms on freebsd: installation freeze

I had the same problem, and eventually figured out that my server's
/dev/random device was depleting its "pool of entropy". There are two
ways (that I know of) around this:
(1) What I did was to use the 'rndcontrol' command to add some
additional sources of entropy. (By default, FreeBSD is configured to
use the keyboard interrupt as a source of entropy -- not very helpful on
a server that doesn't get much console usage.) I'm currently set to use
interrupts 10, 14 and 15. (If I remember correctly, 10 is the
pre-existing keyboard interrupt and the other two are related to network
cards I have installed)
(2) There's a setting in the JDK that you can modify to have it use
/dev/urandom instead of /dev/random as its source of random data. Don't
remember precisely what or where that is, though, so if you choose that
route, you'll need to do a bit of Googling for the details.

Subject: [opencms-dev] opencms on freebsd: installation freeze
Hi All,
we are triing to get openCMS to work on FreeBSD System.
The configuration is:
- FreeBSD 4.9
- mysql 3.23.54
- jdk14
- jakarta-tomcat4.1.
- mod_jk
- Apache/1.3.27
Using the Setup Wizard and following the standard installation, we
Connected
opencms
to the mysql database without any problems. After the sql thing i got a
green traffic light
saying that all is ok and my browser is redirected to
http://.....opencms/ocsetup/check_versions.jsp and nothing happens.
I checked the mailing list and find topics with similar problems, but no
answer. Did somebody get to work the opencms on freebsd?
Best Regards,
Taras
