this is quite simple :-) Enhance web.xml from opencms-webapp for your
servlet-class. Then create a new Module via Module-Wizard. Set export to
true in wizard. Then build this servlet in the modules-names path under
classes-folder from your new module. Upload the servlet to this place inVFS.
Publish it...
Restart Tomcat (or other servlet-container)

That´s it ... your servlet should be available under /opencms/myServletsName

Hope this helps ..

We did lot of work on such special modules... We also made some things which
are needed for a portal as module. InstantMessaging,
Scheduler/Dateing-Module ...
We also are working on a solution to integrate JSR168 compliant Portlets to
opencms... but actually we didnt´t find a performant and scalable solution.
