[opencms-dev] Administration module "Check external links"

Hi All,

on the administration screen are two icons for link checking, "Check 
external links" and "Check links".
"Check links" works fine for HTML and file system links but what does 
"Check external links"?
In the German workplace, the icon is named "Ergebnisse Linkprüfung" 
(results of link check) which is quite different from the English naming.
After a short look into CmsAdminLinkCheckViewer it really seems to be 
only a display of results, but I did not go deeper into the code yet.
Does this module check links itself or does it only display results of a 
check that has to be configured and started somewhere else?

We use OpenCms 5.0.1.
