[opencms-dev] openCMS 5 MySQL database configuration querstion

This might have already been answered before, but I did not
find information about it:

The opencms.properties do contain 3 different parameter sets for
MySQL database connection pools

# Parameters for the mySQL online connection-pool
# Parameters for the mySQL connection-pool
# Parameters for the mySQL backup connection-pool

1. Are all 3 indispensable/needed to run openCMS ?
2. What is the precise meaning of "backup" in the backup connection-pool
   Is this
    - a backup connection-pool or ?
    - a connection-pool to database which is used for backups ?
3. What is the difference between the "online connection-pool" and the
"connection-pool"
