I assume that your external links are exported to the file system and 
delivered by tomcat directly, not through opencms.
Tomcat determines the mime type of a file by evaluating its extension.
You could set the "exportname" property of your external links to a name 
with a ".html" extension. But you would have to do it for each link.
If you have all your external links in one folder, you could set the 
export property of your folder to false. This would prevent the links 
from being exported and they are directly handled by opencms.
