[opencms-dev] custom xmlcontent property entries

In a simple calendar xmlcontent app, I use the datetime widget to get a date.
I also use the mapping feature of the xsd to store values in the XML 
resource properties.

I would also like to store just the month value in a property.  How do 
I  insert my date-formatting code so that this month value is stored when a 
new page is created or edited? Is the only choice to insert it after the 
new resource has been written to the VFS?
