[opencms-dev] Solution to Install and NoSuchMethodError

Installation of OpenCMS 5.0 on a Windows 2003 system

 

Problems:

 

1)         Not all versions of the products will work with other versions.

 

This version set will work.

 

JDK                  1.4.2

Tomcat             4.1

MySQL             4.0

OpenCMS         5.0

 

 

2)         Xerces.jar version problem.

 

            Error when editing content

 

            NoSuchMethodError ...  CoreDocumentImpl.getEncoding ...

 

 

OpenCMS 5.0 has version 1.4.4 of xerces

Tomcat 4.1 has an unknown version in XercesImp.jar

 

To solve this error delete the xercesImp.jar file from TOMCAT
4.1\common\endorsed

Replace it with xerces-1_4_4.jar from TOMCAT 4.1\webapps\opencms\WEB-INF\lib
once OpenCMS has been deployed.
