I got it working using mod_proxy redirect directives

The solution to this is to create a separate DNS entry for the workplace
login

Alessandro,
IIRC this problem happens because Apache mod_proxy Redirect directives
*do not* support POST method, check out this previous post
http://mail.opencms.org/pipermail/opencms-dev/2005q1/015739.html .

Has anybody managed to solve this? Will using Tomcat AJP connector fix
it?

Regards,
Patricio.
