The button should appear if you press the "reload" (green arrow) button in
the top frameset once. It will not appear automatically after the settings
are made. This is the expected behaviour. Logout and Login also work, but
should not be required.

Do you mean that when you open and change the user preferences, the sync
settings are lost? That would be a bug.
