[opencms-dev] Multiple views for a single XML document?

We need to be able to present different views that show different  
elements of a single XML document.

ie, one XML document that has 'news', 'event', 'mediarelease' views.

We're currently doing it by appending HTML GET parameters to an url  
to a jsp page, like:

/view.jsp?type=news&item=${opencms.filename}

essentially.

Is there some other way of doing this more efficiently in OpenCMS?
