Paul,

You have to restart tomcat everytime to see your changes through the
workplace, or you include your java code into scriptlets in jsp's, so
that you can see your changes immediately, but in this case it's
difficult to use an IDE :-)

Subject: [opencms-dev] developing modules: how to quickly publish
Java.class files?

Hi,

this is my first post. I have been browsing through the documentation,
the mailing list etc., but I cannot find information on the module
development process. Specifically, let's say you have a set of Java
files, which you constantly change (this is development, right?) What
is the best way to test the results of your change?

Ideally, I'd like to recompile the files somewhere on my local
filesystem using some external tool, then go to a browser window
displaying a page generated by OpenCms with my module, refresh it, and
immediately see what has changed. However, this doesn't seem to be
possible... What is the shortest path between `recompile' and `refresh
and see'?

Thanks in advance.

Paul
