Christian -

Thanks very much for posting these. imho it's this kind of top-down,
graphical overview which the OpenCms documentation needs so badly.

If I have a brain left after my current project finishes, I'll look at
producing an English equivalent.

Subject: [opencms-dev] Some overview-PDFs over Opencms' Architecture

Hi,

There seems to have been a university project that did some quality
assurance tests on opencms.
They have also generated some infos about the system architecture, which in
my opinion is *very* good to get an overview.

The IMHO four most interesting pdfs are:
-
http://projects.mi.fu-berlin.de/x/pub/SWTprak/GruppeAirexePhase1/GruppeAirex
eCmsObjectCall.pdf
(how a call is going through the API layers from CmsObject to the Database)
-
http://projects.mi.fu-berlin.de/w/pub/SWTprak/GruppeAirexePhase1/GruppeAirex
eOpenCmsEventSystem.pdf
(publishers and subscribers of various events)
-
http://projects.mi.fu-berlin.de/w/pub/SWTprak/GruppeAirexePhase1/GruppeAirex
ePhase1PackagesDiagram.pdf
(location between some packages)
-
http://projects.mi.fu-berlin.de/w/pub/SWTprak/GruppeBerlinArbeitsberichtOpen
CmsFunktionalitaet/OpencmsFunktionalitt20050529.pdf

(Functional topics and relevant classes - VERY well-structured and quite
comprehensive, but only in German)

If there is anyone who likes to create and maintain sth. like #4 in English,
it would be quite helpful to many opencms users I think.

Download them, before they vanish!

Christian
