 Actually, I want to build a directory navigation in the page, to show all the information in one page. I can't find an API like this. Do I have to call "getFolder list", and implement it by myself? Thank you for any help. Sean

Hello,
I'm a newbie and have only a few questions about OpenCMS

- Properties
In the workplace, you have the possible to edit the Properties of any file. There are a bunch of differnet Properties. Is there a documentation about those Properties? Can I Use those properties for my own Modules - add a property automatically? How can I add other Prpoerties?

Description
Keywords
NavImage
NavInfo
NavPos
NavText
Title
activemethod
admintoolhandler-args
admintoolhandler-class
cache
...
???

- HTML Widget
When i want to edit an html page, I have a really nice WYSIWYG Editor. If I Use the HTML Widget demo for a element and want to edit this there is only a WYSIWYG with less options. How can I configure that i can see the same Editor?

- Edit HTML page
If I edit an HTML Page in the first line I have tho Options
- the locall

How can I add another Locale?
- TEXT R1C1, R2C1, R2C2
Where is this configured? How can i change this? Add more rows or more columns?

Thanks

Holger

Many properties are just there because they were used in the OpenCms workplace. At the first glance I also was puzzled by the many properties and what they were for. Actually, besides template, Title and the Nav* properties little is used in all day programming.

You can add your own property by using the Define Button at the bottom of the property sheet. There is a workplace tool in the adminstration section to remove a property again.

Though not always the cleanest method but abusing an existing property for something of your own is a common practise, I've heard :)

Hi Judith,

let us first try to get the necessary info:
1) Which Version of tomcat, operating system, database and jdbc-driver
you are using?
2) Which java (jre/sdk) version is installed on your machine?
3) Did you get any error messages during the setup
(http://localhost:8080/opencms/setup)?

Until we get your answers for 1 to 3, some "blind" tries:
A) Did you copy your jdbc driver in the %CATALINA_HOME%\common\lib
directory?
B) If you open a (dos)-shell, do you get some sensful answer if you
execute: "javac -version" ?

The steps to get OpencCms running in short:
1) Jdk ist installed, JAVA_HOME Variable is correct and the bin
directory in the path.
2) Database is running (and a supported one ;-)
3) Tomcat is installed, the jdbc driver (=jar file) for your database is
in the "%CATALINA_HOME%\common\lib" directory (forget this step if you
are using mysql).
4) Start the setup in your browser: http://localhost:8080/opencms/setup

After finisching these steps you should be up and ok... Ready for RTFM.
If all is running fine within tomcat, then I would try to use the
jk-thing and apache...

Regards
Jakob

Hi,

I need to test in a <c:when> tag some info I get using <cms:info> tag.
How can I do that?

I've tried to use <c:set> tag to set a variable to use in <c:when>:

<c:set var="var1" value="<cms:info property='opencms.request.uri' />" />

But var1 is set to "<cms:info property='opencms.request.uri' />" and not
to the value returnet by the cms:info tag.

Thanks for any advices

Try to nest the info tag within the set tag.

Thanks to Panos and Robert!!!

I would like to ask to you for a similar question.

In the tag <cms:contentload> I want to use a variable inside the param
attribute.

This code works:

<cms:contentload collector="allInFolder"
param="${param.folder}news_${number}.html|news" preload="true">

This other code works as well:
<cms:contentload collector="allInFolder"
param="/sites/default/mysite/newsfolder/news_${number}.html|news"
preload="true">

But if I put the path for the news in a variable and try to use this
variable, the tag doesn't work any more.

<c:set var="var1" value="/sites/default/mysite/newsfolder/" />
<cms:contentload collector="allInFolder"
param="${var1}news_${number}.html|news" preload="true">

Why?

And how can I put a variable in the attribute of the tag?

Many thanks again

I want to show 2 level navigation tree in one page directly.I tried using the api getfoldertreenavigation(1, 9).But I have to click the high level navigation item to view the child navigation. Is there any api I can use to show the navigation tree directly(like a site map). How? Thanks in advance. Sean

I attempted to upgrade a 6.0.3 install to 6.2 using the upgrade package. The
upgrade appeared to go smoothly, but afterward, I could not log into the
workspace. It was giving a JSP compilation error on line 73:

this.viewcfg=<%=wp.getExplorerSettings()%>

It was complaining that CmsFrame.getExplorerSettings() does not exist, which
is true in 6.2, but was not true in 6.0.3 - it appears that the JSPs were
not upgraded. I have flushed cache, work/, etc, but it just doesn't appear
that anything within the database was modified. I've even gone as far as to
roll back the app files without rolling back the database, and everything
worked just fine.

It appears that no changes to the VFS are being applied. Any idea what could
be wrong?

Thanks,

Cris
