Hi,
 you can create admin / backoffice modules like in 5.0.
For example.

Write your modules folder starting from /system/workplace/admin/ and define
the properties
admintoolhandler-class with
org.opencms.workplace.tools.CmsDefaultToolHandler
than create simple .jsp file.

Go to the admin console 
Administration > Workplace Tools > Re-Initialize the Workplace 
and re initialize the console.

Turn back  to the admin Gui to see the modules icon..than follow the more
example to customizing the modules behaviour.
