[opencms-dev] OpenCms 7.0 roadmap?

Sebastian,

the feature set for version 7.0 is not fixed so far. We have several
customers who currently invest in core development, and we intend to publish
all results as open source for version 7.

Major areas where we have been working at include improved link mangement
and workflow functions. Some improvements to XML contents (like auto
correction after schema change) are already available in the CVS.

Currently all development at Alkacon for the core is customer sponsored. The
good part is that we can put around 50% of our development time in great
features for the core product (not customer specific), and still get paid
for it. The downside is that we lack time to work on items we find important
(like JSR 170) but have no sponsor for.

If all goes as planned, a set of new features including improved
linkmangement and workflow should be available sometimes in Q4. At this
point we will start a version 7 "alpha release" cycle. The final version 7.0
should then be available either around Q2 next year.

Kind Regards,
Alex.
