Hi,

Tomcat works on any system with a modern Version of Java. Tomcat ist not operating-system dependent. The same is the case for Opencms. Opencms needs a modern version of Java and a servlet container to run.

Java 1.5.x (and higher) exist for Solaris, so you should be able to install Tomcat on Solaris, without problems.
And if you can install Tomcat, you can also install Opencms.

The only question would be which databases that are supported by opencms are available for Solaris. This I don't know.

Of course your opencms server does not have to be the Database server at the same time. Opencms could also run on a solaris server and connect to a database on a different machine (which then can have a different Operating System).
