[opencms-dev] Mass change types?

Is there a way to mass change the type of a group of documents. What 
I've done is generated some generic type xml content, but when I try and 
upload them as zip or with applet it marks them as plane text content. 
Is there a way to convert these to xml type? I have like 860 of them.
