[opencms-dev] [webdav + svn] Using svn/cvs and not having the "svn" directories checked in to opencms

Hi Philip,
We are using the plugin about 2 years now. And of course there were problems but most of them are fixed. During the time working I found it very comfortable to synchronize the vfs files to the real file system, editing them with my favourite IDE (eclipse), and, after finishing my work, commiting them to the versioning system. This makes working in teams and the deployment process much easier and more reliable.

The company I work for (comundus GmbH) developed the plugin and put it Open Source a few months ago.
Currently we are in the stage of utilizing it to make it fully compatible with the OpenCms core. So future versions of OpenCms can use the maven plugin without being patched. This decision was made during the OpenCms Sprint in September (read more on this page: http://opencms.org/en/events/sprints/08september/topic_maven/).

Right now we are working on the update to 7.0.5. It will be available on sourceforge soon.

What we need is, that the OpenCms developers out there use and test the plugin and give us their feedback.
So it would be nice, if you go ahead and check it out.

Regards
Kai

Hi Kai,

thanks for your input! As I'm not changing the openCMS classes I was hoping for a solution without ant/maven. However the maven plugin does look quite interesting and amazingly productive. I'm just not to optimistic about the "7.0.3 version compatible ... newer version will be supported in the future". This faq and the fact that the documentation is not completet and ends with "//TODO" gives me the feeling that I would jump on a pretty early train. As I'm using IBM webdrive to mount the webdav export as a local filesystem anyway I guess I'll create an ant script to do the job instead of utilizing mvn.

Are you using the mave plugin? If so, how long - and did you experience any problems?

br,
Philip

I wouldn't be really happy about using some sync mechanism (e.g. an ant or make script) to copy the jsp to the webdav mount. I do want to work directly on the webdav files and still have them checked in to svn at the same time.
