yes, in the opencms properties file just point all your appservers to the same database.  You will probably want to create a scheduled task that clears the jsp cache on a regular interval because sometimes a published item on a different server will not be updated on all the other servers.

You will also want to schedule a task that does the search indexing since it is stored in the RFS and wouldn't know to update if the publish were executed from a different server.

Why not use two databases in a master/slave setup, the master 
replicating all changes to the slave? Just checkout the MySQL 
documentation on how to do this.
