[opencms-dev] Availability release date behaviour

Hi all,

 

I’ve been trying to understand the behaviour of the ‘release date’ attribute
of the ‘Availability’ tab and would like to hear your opinions on it. I
actually need to know whether it is possible to publish (make
visible/available) only the locale of a given content, or else all the
locales are published at the same time and there’s no way to separate them.

 

Scenario:

-          Create a new content (for instance, News).

-          Set a ‘release date’ to your current time plus 2 minutes.

-          Edit the german locale for the same content.

-          Set the ‘release date’ for the German locale to two minutes later
than the English locale (i.e: current time + 4 min).

-          Save and exit.

 

If you try to access the content via-ADE, it is not available, as expected.
It is, in fact, not available until the English release date is reached.
>From that point, not only the English content is published, but also the
German.

 

Back to the workplace, the “release date” displays the English date.

 

What’s more, if we edit the German date, the wokplace ‘release date’ column
shows no changes. It behaves as if it followed the English (or first locale
in the list) ‘release date’ and ignored the rest.

 

That leads me to believe that the release and expiration date are global for
the content, not for the locale, which is something I’d need. Is there any
workaround to this issue?
