[opencms-dev] Map external data to OpenCMS seo urls

Thanks,

That worked like a charm.

But it got me thinking, could I use this to mount my external data source as a virtual-virtual-filesystem, and return
something that inherits from CMSFile, where getContents is then created as the xml that would match a resourcetype , and thus allow my backend data elements to be first class citizens in OpenCMS?

Ideally, I would be able to create a ResourceType for “Product”, and then use the DetailPage system to allow editors to make special pages around certain products, while all the rest are rendered using the default detail page. But I’m unsure if the resourceInit is *only* used for browser requests, or if it is involved in any instantation of a resource in the system.

I looked at doing it on the VFS db layer, by then synthesizing the GUID to start with a magic prefix or some such, but I got the feeling that I wasn’t in the right place for the job.
