Tomcat itself has the option to create and manage JDBC connection, how about using that?

Subject: [opencms-dev] HikariCP - a "zero-overhead" production ready JDBC connection pool

Hi all,

while struggling with database reconnection capabilities in the course of another project, I stumbled over HikariCP [1] - "a zero-overhead production ready JDBC connection pool". At first glance it seems to be very fast and reliable. The project pages and its wiki [2] are well worth reading.

Maybe the integration into OpenCms would be a good idea.
