[opencms-dev] direct publish limit

Hey Patric, hey Tobias,
we realized that it could take minutes for the publish job to appear in the publish queue, when publishing a large amount of resource (70000).
This could be irritating. Maybe it is a good idea to show the job sooner in the publish queue (if possible), because users could think the publish job did not start and start it again which might lead to problems?
Best regards
Kai

Hey Tobias ;)
Ok it's an issue of the publish dialog itself. So I understand the message correct.
But the resources are not published and no publish queue was created :(
Regards, Patric

Hi Patric,
the UI of the publish dialog can not handle that number of resources in a sensible way. So we introduced this limit of 1000 resources.
If you want to publish a small subset of the changed resources, it is best to use the direct publish feature.
When clicking publish in the dialog of your screen shot, the dialog will close and delegate the publish job preparation to a background thread.
The preparation of this job may take a while, but it should end up in the publish queue eventually. Only in case the job fails you will receive a broadcast.
Kind regards,
Tobias
