Ogg: [opencms-dev] Disaster Recovery Environment - standby mode and licensing
-->
Hi all,
Me and my team are implementing a Disaster Recovery solution of a service based on OpenCms platform. The specific scenario, based on the specific needs of the Client, foresee a solution in which a system is a "disaster
recovery system" is in “standby mode” with the meaning that the system itself does not run continuously in the Disaster Recovery Environment: the system is in the state "stopped" and "started" just after a disaster occurs. Data and the OpenCms software are
exclusively used for DR testing purposes (once a year) and the use of the Software serves only the corresponding productive content management (in the primary production site).
We need to better understand how licensing works in this DR scenario in which a disaster recovery system that is an exact replication of the corresponding production system has a different Ethernet address (mac address
portability is not an option).
We expect that software license for DR environment shall be provided free of charge, due to the fact that the software in DR environment is used only
- for testing purposes (few days, once a year);
- when a disaster occurs on the primary site: the production primary site is completely compromised and only the server machines on DR Site are run due to the fact that the corresponding servers on primary site are completely
compromised or destroyed.
We look forward for your kind reply.
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards
Filomena De Fazio
