[opencms-dev] OpenCms VFS capable of UTF filenames?

Hi List, hi developers,

I asked this some time ago already (to be precise, on 2017-07-10) but 
don't recall having obtained an answer by the developers: when will the 
OpenCms VFS be capable of supporting UTF-8 (or similar)encoded filenames?

At present a file name mangling takes place and file and folder names 
are converted into something like 7bit ASCII if I'm right.

I'm hoping for an answer, at least like:


  * Maybe some time in the future
  * Next release
  * Never - but why?
