„headless CMS“,

It’s cool to read that! We did an approximation last year based on formatters. I think it's a good step forward.

If we can help you, let us know!!

Kind regards.

Un saludo.

Hi Alessio,

I'm a little sad to hear of the shelving of OpenCMS NG. It seemed a really interesting idea, but I can understand the business logic behind your decision.
Is there a roadmap for OpenCMS now?
Can you share some info on what's coming up?

Right now we are working on integrating „headless CMS“ features to OpenCms.
So OpenCms will get the option to generate JSON from XML contents, not HTML pages.
This is a requirement for many modern JavaScript frameworks.

There will be an OpenCms 12 release with these features next year.

In the meantime will will release a Version 11.0.1 with some minor bugfixes later this summer.

Kind regards,
Alex.

Kai,

Regarding the file repository:

There is a plan for the next release of OpenCms to use another repository to store files.

I assume with the „plan“ you mean the „OpenCms NG“ approach we introduced during the last OpenCms Days.
The idea was to use Apache Jackrabbit Oak as content repository for OpenCms.

We did put considerable resources into this development in the last years.
But unfortunately we where not able to achieve sufficient backward compatibility to older OpenCms versions with this approach.
Moreover, none of the customers we closely work with have shown any interest whatsoever in this approach.

We have stopped working on the new repository implementation a while back.

Currently we do not anymore actively pursue the idea to switch the OpenCms repository technology.
We may pick up the idea again in the future, but certainly not for the next OpenCms release 12.

So this means the OpenCms DB repository will not be changed anytime soon.

Kind regards,
Alex.

Hello Yamit,

thank you very much for your question. It is difficult to answer your question. It is not very precise.
I assume you mean if files could be stored outside of a DBMS. If that is your question, the answer is no.
There is a plan for the next release of OpenCms to use another repository to store files.
It is said, that this release will arrive sometime this year. The people from Alkacon could only give a precise answer to when the release date will be.

HTH

Best regards
Kai
