Thomas,

welcome to OpenCms :)

If you are new to OpenCms, I would recommend not to work with
xmlpages anymore. Xmplages were the technology to create content
pages in OpenCms 6, and they only exist because of compatibility
reasons for older applications.
You cannot use all advanced direct edit functions - edit your
website directly inside the site itself - with xmlpages.

So you should start to look for structured contents, their
formatters and how to make templates to use those features.
A starting point for this could be found in the OpenCms Wiki, e.g.

http://www.opencms-wiki.org/wiki/Creating_OpenCms_8_Container_Templates
http://www.opencms-wiki.org/wiki/Using_formatters_in_OpenCms_8
http://www.opencms-wiki.org/wiki/XMLContent

And of course, use the mailing list.

Kind regards,
Michael
Folkses,

I'm an absolute newbie to OpenCms and am trying to get to grips
with it.
I couldn't find any tutorial on the web for folks like me but
luckily I came across the tutorial from Nick Prosch @ codecentric.

However, I keep running into problems and things don't quite work
as they should.
For example, if I want to change the element language of a page

I only can select "Englisch", "Deutsch" has "[-]" at the
end (does that mean it's not available?)

if I select "Deutsch [-]" the text block selection is empty

if I the click on the "Element" icon to activate the "Text"
element I get an exception, see attachment

In my workplace my html files are shown to be of type xmlpage. Is
that correct?

As far as the tuorial goes, I don't get the navigation from the
page template in my pages. What do I need to do?

Any help appreciated,

PS: I'm using OpenCms 8.5.1 on Windows Server 2003 R2, MySQL 5.6,
Apache Tomcat 7.0
