Hi Tobias,
I am not sure, if I understand you correctly.
Is it true, that the image type is missing in the original OpenCms setup and should be added manually?
Is it true, that if I want to change the configuration of the Solr Offline index in any other way, I better should create a new index?
Best regards

Hi A.,

you are right about the image type. Generally it is not a good idea to change the configuration of the 'SOLR Offline' index, as OpenCms core functionality depends on it.
If you require an index with a different set of assigned document types or a different set of sources, it is best to create a separate index specific to your needs.

Kind regards,
Hi Tobias,

the result count stated "0 resources" as you told..and so i checked
the "Solr index" index source in the search management and i
discovered that "Image type" *_was not_* among the "assigned document
types" (panel on the left side) so i have added also that type and
rebuild the index, thinking that this could be the problem, and i was
right, cause now finally opening image gallery, i can see the thumbs!
:) this means that image type have to be always in the "assigned
document types", otherwise opening image gallery, no image thumbs are
shown, am i right ?

thanks,
Hi A.,

in the gallery dialog the number of found resources is displayed.
What is the result count in your case? In case the dialog states 0
resources are found, there is something wrong with the search index
used for the gallery dialogs. Open the search management tool and
rebuild the 'SOLR Offline' index.
If the dialog states there are some images found, but none are
displayed, you need to look into your site and/or your apache
configuration. Open the file /WEB-INF/config/opencms-system.xml and
check if the workplace-server node is set correctly to host name you
access the OpenCms workplace with. By default this is set to
'http://localhost:8080', which will most likely not be correct for
your environment. If you changed anything here, you need to restart
your servlet container afterwards.

Kind regards,
Hi Thomas,

to fix this, open the explorer. Navigate into the root site
'/' and
into the folder '/system/workplace/commons/'. Open the
permissions
dialog for the resource 'gallery.jsp'.
Select the resource permissions view and add a permission
set for
the role 'Element author', check 'Read allowed' and click on
'Set'.
Close the dialog and publish the 'gallery.jsp'. It should
work now.

Kind regards,
Hello,

many thanks for your reply !

User has the role 'Element author'.

The tomcat error message displayed is:

-.-.-.-.

HTTP Status 404 - /system/workplace/commons/gallery.jsp
type Status report
message /system/workplace/commons/gallery.jsp
description The requested resource is not available.

-.-.-.-.

The interesting is that the gallery works for other
formatters with access to Galleries. It just doesn't
work in
HtmlWidget (download/picture)gallery Icon.
gallery.jsp has also not some significant different
access
rights compared to other JSPs (and i wouldn't have
changed
it either ) .
If I elevate the user to "Workplace User" role, what i
_don't_ want to, it would work.

Thanks & Kind Regards
Thomas Schmidt
