[opencms-dev] can't find examples

Hi all,

my installation is complete and running but I can't find 
the examples directory when creating a new project. 

Details:
RedHat6.1 
MySQL-3.22.25-1
jdk 1.2.2
apache 1.3.11
jserv 1.1

Install directory: 	/opt/opencms_4.1.37
DocumentRoot: 		/www/opencms

There is one directory named examples in my install dir
/opt/opencms_4.1.37/examples. After unzipping the file
examples.zip right there, it has the following content:

[opencms_4.1.37]$ ls examples/
clock.html  empty.gif  examples.zip  logo_opencms.gif  opencms.css  window.html
content     examples   index.html    manifest.xml      subfolder    window2.html

But after login as Admin while creating a new project (as described
in 'Benutzerhandbuch OpenCMS Version 4.0' (Stand 2000.05.12)
the listing of available directories shows only the following:

Hauptverzeichnis
content
  bodys
  internal
  templates
download
pics
system

In DocRoot there is only one directory 'pics'.
In zone.properties I set
servlet.opencms.code=com.opencms.core.OpenCmsServlet
servlet.opencms.initArgs=properties=/usr/local/apache/servlets/opencms.properties
