Hi,

in short the publishing mechanism copies all changed resources into the
online-project. The online-project is the only one a guest-user can access.

Online-Project:   Your current set of resources everybody can see.
Offline-Projects: Your working areas to change and test your website without
changing the online resources.

Wit the current publishing mechanism you can't copy your website from one
server to another.
