The major release 4.4.6 of OpenCms is now available from the OpenCms website
http://www.opencms.org.

New features of the 4.4.6 release:

A history function in the project administration shows information about all
recently published projects. An integrated messaging system allows the
Administrator to broadcast a message to all users logged in the workplace
(e.g. for server shutdown). The WYSIWYG Editor now displays the page using
the CSS of the selected template. Workplace dialogs (Copy / Move / Edit)
have been improved. The Workplace Explorer now displays directories with
more than 50 entries distributed on several pages, greatly improving
download times on slow connections. The reference Servlet engine is now
Tomcat 4.0. Several issues regarding the page element cache have been
solved.

This is the latest major production release of OpenCms. It includes numerous
smaller improvements and bug fixes over the latest major release 4.4.0. If
your server runs on OpenCms 4.4.0, you should definitely update to 4.4.6.
Update is easy, please see the description at
http://www.opencms.org/opencms/opencms/service/upgrade44.html. In case you
wonder what happend to the releases 4.4.1 to 4.4.5: these were internal
builds not relased for download.

We have slowed down the cycle for download releases since the 4.4.0 version.
We think it is now more important to have fewer but stable releases that
also are fully backwards compatible. It is always possible to get the source
code of latest development release of OpenCms from the CVS tree, please
check out http://www.opencms.org/opencms/opencms/service/cvs.html for
further info about that.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to this new release.

Best Regards,

Alexander Kandzior
