OpenCms could handle this automatically for you.
You can configure the static export so that
your images are copied to the hard disk and are served
directly with Apache, while the pages are build
dynamically in OpenCms (or could also be exported, which
you can decide on a per page basis).
This should be explained in the Documentation somewhere.
The standard configuration of the export actually does this.
Export works only in the "Online" project, the Offline images
would in this case be accessed via OpenCms.
