[opencms-dev] Previewing uploaded files problem

Thanks, Simon,
but I don't think that's our problem. So far we are only storing content
in the OpenCms database -- nothing on the filesystem. Previewing uploaded
content should work I think, or else different behaviour should be
exhibited.
Regards,
Mark

Subject: RE: [opencms-dev] Previewing uploaded files problem
Mark,
We configure downloads and graphics to be read directly from the file
system; this gives the slight drawback that previewing of unpublished
files is not possible as they are only stored in the database. It is
possible to configure the system to pick up the files from the database
only, but this will reduce performance on the live system.
I guess this is the same issue you are facing. It should be possible to
configure the server to read from the database in preview and from the
file system on live, but we have not had time to investigate that yet.

Subject: [opencms-dev] Previewing uploaded files problem
Hi All,
Has anybody experienced the case where an uploaded file (MS Word, PDF,
MS
PowerPoint, etc) cannot be previewed? Although we can access the
published
file, selecting the file from the OpenCms Workspace produces a message
box
"Internet Explorer cannot download XYZ.ppt", although there are no
errors
reported in the server console. The opencms logfile reports an IO error
and a broken pipe error each time (CmsDumpLoader).
Thanks for any help,
Mark
