Operating System? Windows?

Mhmmm... I didn't tried it yet - sorry...

Try starting Tomcat over command line or the link in Start menu - for
testing reasons !

Edit the link to something like this...

C:\jdk1.4\bin\java.exe -jar =-Dfile.encoding=ISO8859_1
-Duser.dir="C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1" "C:\Program
Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\bin\bootstrap.jar" start

Nico

Hi Nico and Thomas,

we have the same Umlaut-encoding problem here
(jdk 1.4.1 + opencms 5beta2 + tomcat 4.1)

I tried that but makes no difference here...

This is my cmd-line:

CATALINA_OPTS=-Dfile.encoding=ISO8859_1;
JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/j2sdk1.4.1_01/" ./catalina.sh start

Sven
