[opencms-dev] Possible synchronization problem

Hi Alex,

To have the properties move over you have to use export and import. The
created export file contains a manifest.xml file which defines all of
the properties and the ownerships etc.

With synchronization, you are copying the file only (there is nowhere
for the properties to be saved). This also can create your second
problem because when a file is initially synchronized into a new
instance of OpenCms, OpenCms doesn't know that the file is supposed to
be of PAGE type, so it gets set up as a PLAIN text file and will then be
displayed as its plain XML content.

I have found that export/import is the way to go for copying between
instances and synchronization is great for updating within a single
instance.

Hope this helps. Best wishes,
                              Ivan

I also noticed that while bodies of page resources appear to be
processed correctly (at least I can see them in the right places in the
explorer view, the page resources are imported as type plain. As a
result, clicking on a page in explorer simply displays control code xml
in the browser.

Also, there is no way to change resources "back into pages" by changing
file type (options are binary, text, image). Is that intentional?

Thanks,
Alex

I am trying to move resources between two installations of OpenCms (on
two different machines).

I did the following:

1) Defined synchronization folder in the first installation
2) Performed synchronization in the first installation
3) Defined synchronization folder in the second installation that points
to the same folder
4) Performed synchronization in the first installation

At this point all the folders and resources appear in the explorer in
the second installation, but all their properties are missing.

Is it a bug or expected behavior?
Is what I am doing a correct way to move resources?

Thanks,

Alex
