[opencms-dev] How to add custom datatypes

Is there any mechanism to add additional datatypes in OpenCMS, to add to 
the default ones that come built-in, like page, jsp, etc?  Looking at 
the archives, this question has been asked 2-3 times without any reply...

I have tried going to the 'system|workplace|restypes' are of the tree in 
the explorer view, and copying one of the existing definitions there. It 
does show up in that location once added. However, the administrator 
doesn't seem to pick it up for display in the list of datatypes, nor is 
it a valid option whne using the new button anywhere.

Does anybody have any suggestions?
