[opencms-dev] Problems with Lucene based module

Hi all,
can anyone tell me if Lucene based module is able to indexing files (html, xml etc, etc...) uploaded in a vfs directory?
I mean, after i uploaded a file (Upload new file - Upload File - Suggested file type  etc..) and published my project, can I run the index manager on that file? Or do I have to insert a content in a page previously associated to a template?
