 From What i suspect now, it has something to do with the database 
configuration. The all the native characters that get entered in the 
wyswig mode are transfered into entities, but nothing like this happens 
when saving properties like NavText etc.

Im too trying to figure this out - so any help would be appreciated.

ps Im using tomcat 4.1.29 and mysql 4.0.16 with opencms 5.01. And the 
problems the same thou i adltered the properties of database connection 
i keep seeing all those ??? instead of śćżźę
