I've found some strange solution, but it can be only temporary. Write
navtext in page editor (WYSIWYG), switch do Source Editor and copy navtext
(native characters will be encoded like that: &#xxx; where xxx is some
number. Now go to page properties and paste copied text in navtext
properties. All signs will be properly presented. But it is too laborious,
as final solution. We are still looking for something better.

Best Regards

I have met the same problem with Greek language and still I have no
solution. I had no problems with utf-8 installation but I still did not
managed to make greek navtext work. (see prev mails) . I then used tomcat 4,
jdk1.4.1 mysql and opencms 5. I am going to test that with the newer
versions asap and let you know.

Hi,
to be able to help you, you should always provide some basic information
about your environment:

Which version of OpenCms, MySQL, JDK, Tomcat/JBoss/etc. do you use?

Best regards
Petr

Betreff: [opencms-dev] Problem with native characters in Navtext (i.e.
Polish, Russian)

Hi,

I want to create a website in Polish language (and in Russian). I switched
Mysql and Opencms to ISO-8859-2 and everything seems to be correct.
Unfortunately, there is a problem with navigation text. When I put there
something with polish signs, they are replaced with question marks. I
checked a source of created page, which contains polish characters and in
place of any polish character I found &#xxx; (were xxx is some number) (in
page content), but in place of Navlinks are only question marks. The same
problem is with Russian language. Do you know any solution? (I tried already
with UTF-8, but there are big problems with Mysql, and I failed to finish
installation).

Best regards
          Zbyszek
