[opencms-dev] setting resource_id as new filename

I was thinking of using unique id's for filenames to help admin purposes and 
thinking of using a file's resource_id, but looking at the cms database it 
appears that the resource_id for a file in the offline project is not the 
same as that of the same file in the online project. Which is understandable 
given the way the publishing system works.

Can anyone think of a good way of doing this which stays within the bounds 
of the cms system.?

Perhaps a custom class & table or a hack of some kind?
