There are several fixes for SQL Server available. 

If you're happy modifying the contents of your database to add some
stored procedures I posted some optimisations to the list on 19th Feb
(don't know if you can download attachments from the archive... anyone?)

The specific problem you have encountered is a (much-discussed) bug
which requires the modification to the opencms.properties file in the
com.opencms.core.mssql directory in the opencms.jar library. Simply
delete the C_RESOURCES_GET_FILESINFOLDER and C_RESOURCES_GET_SUBFOLDER
entries and your problem should go away.
