[opencms-dev] R: opencms-dev digest, Vol 1 #1144 - 7 msgs

Hi Arian (is this your name?),

Thank you for the answer but I am not quite sure to understand how to
use it: could you please clarify where the piece of code you suggest
must be put? Which element must be substituted with specific data, I
guess "yourjsp.jsp" refers to my JSP page (correct?), but what about
<template><element name=3D"jsp"/></template> ?

Regards

Domenico

Hi all,

with applied one template of mines. I am quite novice at using templates
but I see that it is not possible to apply templates to JSP pages: would

Hey all, I work with Cory, and am using OpenCMS on a couple of projects.

I started looking through the source, and it seems that an OR mapping
project could be started very simply by swapping out the stuff in the
CmsDbAccess objects with OR mapping code.

I would mean this as a first step, and it should not really affect the
rest
of the app, as long as all db access goes through those DbAccess
objects.

Is this true? Would this be as straightforward as I think, or am I
crazy?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

M

I agree. Implementing a data access layer like OJB or Hibernate
would be a
huge step forward.

By doing this OpenCMS will work on other Databases (like
postgres,
SQLServer, DB2, Oracle), without a problem. It would also free up the
OpenCMS dev team to work on bigger issues.

It can be a slow transition. We can start off by just using
the new Data
Access Layer to execute the existing queries. Then slowly port over the
Queries to use the OR Mapped Objects.

Once that process is complete OpenCMS would be database
independant.

Can someone give a brief overview of the changes required to
make this
change?

No it's not in CVS, it was just some internal testing we did at Alkacon.

In a later version this might be an option.

Hi,

for pure OpenCMS this could be a first step. But most of the work, is to
include it for Modules and such things!
And how to integrate it into the setup wizard?

Bye Achim

There is currently no section on MS Sql server 2000 support. If someone
would who has had experience would like to contribute ... would be
really cool.

Would just need a section on how to set up the sql server db and what
needs to be changed within opencms (including links to drivers etc..)
ie. a step by step guide.

Anyone ???

All the best,

Mark
